Jason codirects The Talking Lab (with Dr. Nicole Lytle) at Montclair State University. The Lab's mission is to generate recommendations that will improve the reliability of children's testimony and enhance the  accuracy of investigative decision-making in cases involving children. The lab serves as a training space where students learn to conduct empirical research in the public interest.

Major funding for The Talking Lab is provided by the National Science Foundation. Recent projects include the development of recommendations for conducting tele-forensic interviews with children (2017-2020; SES-1654827) and improving the reliability of hearsay testimony from outcry and fresh complaint witnesses in cases of alleged child maltreatment (2020-2023; SES-1946687).
